SOCIAL PROGRAMME

Welcome Reception @ CHIJMES Hall Sunday 11 Oct 09, 18:30-20:00h

For the Welcome Reception, it's a short walk to CHIJMES (pronounced ‘chimes’), in the heart of Singapore's civic and cultural district. This 19th century UNESCO heritage landmark is the restored gothic chapel of a former cloistered convent, and embodies the city's mix of old world charm and modern stylishness.

Enjoy a drink and catch up with friends at the Welcome Reception, then take advantage of the many nearby restaurants for dinner. Entry to the Welcome Reception is included with your registration. Additional tickets are available for 50 SGD when you register.

Farewell Party @ Asian Civilisations Museum Wednesday 14 Oct 09, from 19:30h until late

To mark the end of proceedings we will gather at the Asian Civilisations Museum. This grand neo-Palladian building was the former home of Singapore’s colonial government, housing government offices for many years before becoming one of Singapore’s major cultural institutions. Sample delicious local cuisine prepared by traditional hawker stalls, dance to the band, and enjoy the magnificent view from the terrace across the Singapore River as the sun sets.

Before the Farewell Party, explore the Museum’s galleries, showcasing the history and artisanship of Singapore and the surrounding Asian regions. The Museum will be open until 19:00h for a small admission charge.

Entry to the Farewell Party is included with your registration. Additional tickets are available for 90 SGD when you register.

Free evening options On your free evenings, we can help you make the most of all that Singapore has to offer:

  • head along Orchard Road for some serious retail therapy
  • experience the magic of the world-famous Night Safari - reserve a place in one of the Colloquium buses to the Night Safari now
  • climb aboard the Singapore Flyer, one of the world's tallest observation wheels, for unparalleled views of the island-city
  • stroll through the historic districts of Chinatown or Little India where markets, food stalls and temples vie for your attention
  • take in the impressive sweep of the Singapore River where traditional shophouses nestle beside the neo-classical splendour of the city's fine colonial buildings

Or simply pick your spot, grab a plate of char kway teow and a bottle of Tiger and feel transported by the warmth of a tropical evening.

Check out our visitor tips for further suggestions and information.

Colloquium buses to the Night Safari

Visit the world’s first Night Safari and see a myriad of nocturnal animals in their natural habitat under subtle moonglow lighting. You can meander through the jungle in the comfort of a tram or set out on the many walking trails where you’ll be able to see the animals at close quarters.

We will provide shuttle buses to the Night Safari on both free evenings (Monday and Tuesday) departing from outside two of the Colloquium hotels.
