SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

To submit a workshop proposal you will need to provide the following information using the online submission form.

1. Workshop title Give brief but clear title to be printed in the Colloquium Programme. The first letter of the first word of the title should be capitalised, all remaining words should be lower case unless they are proper names or acronyms.

2. Methods Group If this workshop is presented on behalf of a Cochrane Methods Group, please select the group from the list. If not, please select 'None'. Methods Group affiliations will be checked with the Methods Group Convenors and printed in the Colloquium Programme.

3. Target audience Indicate who would benefit from attending this workshop (for example: review authors, consumers, or researchers with a particular area of interest). If the workshop is only open to members of a group or people with a specific position (for example, Review Group Co-ordinators), please tick the box to indicate that the workshop is restricted. Indicate whether the workshop is aimed at participants with a basic, intermediate or advanced level of knowledge, or if the workshop is appropriate for any level.

4. Type of workshop Workshops may be proposed as training or discussion workshops.

Training workshops should aim to teach participants new information or skills, promote interaction and provide time for hands-on application of the skills being taught. Training workshops on systematic review methods should be consistent with the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions.

Discussion workshops are not designed to teach, but aim to provide a forum for participants to explore and debate particular topics, encouraging interaction and meaningful discussion. They may address methodological problems or procedural issues, among other possibilities.

5. Abstract text The abstract is limited to 200 words. You can copy and paste text into the abstract box. If abbreviations are used, the abbreviated term should be written out in full the first time it is used. Abstracts should be structured using two headings: Objectives and Description.

6. No. of participants Indicate the minimum and maximum number of participants you would be willing to have in the workshop, or that you expect to attend. This will assist the Colloquium organisers in planning room allocation.

7. Equipment Indicate what kind of equipment will be required for the workshop. If you do not list an item of equipment here, it will not be provided for your workshop. Workshop facilitators are responsible for providing and transporting any printed materials required. Access to computer lab facilities will be limited to a small number of workshops. If you require some equipment or have any other special requests that are not listed, please include this information in the 'Other' field.

8. Facilitators Please list the names and affiliations of everyone who will be present at the Colloquium to facilitate the workshop. Facilitators must register to attend the Colloquium and are responsible for their expenses.

9. Other contributors If there are others who have made substantive contributions to the content of the workshop but will not be present on the day as facilitators, you may acknowledge them here.

10. Submitting your abstract Workshop proposals must be submitted by 15 April 09. You will receive an automated email to acknowledge your submission. If you do not receive an email, or if you require any help with submitting your abstract, please contact workshops AT cochrane.org. You will receive final notification of the success of your proposal by 18 May 09.
